Được vay mượn từ tiếng Pháp allez-hop!, tiếng kêu của một nghệ sĩ nhào lộn trong rạp xiếc sắp nhảy. Từ allez (“go! đi nào!”), dạng ind. trang trọng hoặc ngôi thứ hai số nhiều của aller, và hop, từ tượng thanh.
